“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.” – Rumi
Life doesn’t discriminate… Everyone gets hit with pain whether they’re rich or poor, healthy or unhealthy, etc…
I myself have been sitting with some deep emotional pain lately… And of course, I made a vulnerable audio about it here.
It’s brought up a lot of questions for me— why it comes, what to do with it, and how to heal from it.
In the personal development world, the golden rule is to feel it all (unless you want it to stay with you for way too long).
…After all, if you choose to avoid pain, you also miss out on everything you’d learned from it.
Oftentimes, I’ve found that painful emotions are like crying babies—if we see them, love them, and be with them, they feel better and release. On the flipside, if we ignore them, they get louder and more miserable.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that the best thing you could do with your pain (other than allow it in), is focus on the lessons and messages it’s sharing with you. Far too often, we look back and focus on WHY we’re in pain, versus WHAT we are here to learn from it. The ladder is what matters most.
To honor the pain I’ve been feeling, I’ve been sitting in silence, writing whatever messages I hear from it in a journal, and questioning the beliefs that I have about it.
If you’re in pain, I have a message for you:
Focus on what you’re learning.
Let it come through as a welcome visitor.
Surrendering is not resigning- it is the highest form of self-love and acceptance.
Seriousness is a death of the soul. Don’t let the pain hold onto your shiny light—let it stop in as a guest, give it your love and acknowledgement, and go be the light that you are.
I promise you’re better for it.
